Hello everyone,

So i took a job from akureyri (iceland) to croydon (england).
I am driving on that one snowy road next to akureyri, and now i'm stuck and my wheels keep slipping away.
first i was driving like 30 km/h, and then it goes from 30 to 0 km/h, and now i'm stuck and don't know what to do.

Did someone else had the same problem with this icy road? or is it just me.

You have to have a powerful with a lot of torque and horsepower. The truck bought from your first loan won't be able to handle that road, especially not with a trailer behind it. A (Volvo) truck with atleast 700 + horsepower would be the minimum to pull a trailer on that icy road. I've had problems with it too.

P.S You could try to drive from Akureyrí to Blönðuos, past Borgarnes, past Reykjavík, through Vík, past Höfn, past Reyðarfjördur, into the ports of Seyðísfjördur. (You probably won't make the deadline and you will probably run into more hilly parts, but if you make it, you can atleast get of the island. Or you could cancel the delivery and just teleport to your garage. Unless that's in Iceland too.

Current Truck: Volvo FH Globetrotter
Current Level: 25 (Master)

Current Journey: Warszawa (PL) - Clermont-Ferrand (F)

Or just drive in manual, instead of using the shitty automatic transmission.

Tip 1: Take the routes that don't have snow.
Tip 2: Don't go to Iceland.

Unfortunately the snowy roads are a little mismatched in difficulty compared to the rest of the roads in the game. If you drive with auto-gears you're pretty much stuffed.

I do like the challenge, but when you play with a keyboard or controller, you don't really have the spare fingers/buttons to use manual gears. It's all well and good saying "use manual gears" but for some of us that just isn't a realistic option.

If you are using a controller, you may want to consider using the adaptive transmission which can be turned on in the settings. It will allow the engine to use higher revs before changing gear. Which could be just want you need to get up those snowy peaks.

That is a 'fun' road to drive, especially with a heavy load like that below!!! even with a 730 hp Scania, I had to revert to the 'sequential' transmission, as well as lifting the extra axle to give improved traction ... and then burnt through nearly half a tank of fuel!!! :shock:

Use Left Shift and Left Ctrl for gear change, works just fine on a keyboard
And I am using mouse for steering, learning curve is steep but once adapted works excellent and with cruise control / motor brake moved to secondary mouse buttons it's next best thing after wheel control

I mainly use a 360 controller now.

Far better control over acceleration/braking and steering with the analogue sticks/triggers. I'm hoping that the adaptive transmission option will do the job, but I have yet to return to Iceland since using a controller. It's just a pain having to pause the game to change settings, it takes you out of the immersion. I kind of wish the real-auto would have a gear hold option or a mappable key for switching on the fly between real-auto and manual.

My controller set up is:

L/R triggers for acceleration
L/R Buttons for indicators
Left analogue steering + button for hazard lights.
Right analogue for looking + button for look centring.
D-pad Up = Increase retarder
D-pad Down = Decrease retarder
Left/right = Cruise control on/off & cruise control last setting
Back/start = Parking brake & Engine start/stop
A = Lights
B = Full beam
Y = Wipers
X = Horn/Light Horn

I suppose I could remap the back/start buttons for gears and use the parking break/engine on the keyboard as they are less used.

I would miss the engine break as breaking with engine and wheel brakes at the same time is very effective in game, probably a little unrealistic ;-)

I don't use an engine brake, I'm not really sure what it even is lol.
