next to Warsaw there is a sign that says "Gdańsk centrum" even though Gdańsk is very far away from there. I think it should say "Warszawa centrum".

I believe that this sign is to indicate a national destination rather than a local one, because it points to a major artery

nope, polish signs don't have city centre signs 400km away from it

This sign says exactly, that this exit directs you to Gdańsk and to (Warszawa) Centrum.
