C1 - Only the definition file is incompatible
If only the defintion file is incompatible you will need to generate a new one that matches the correct version of ETS2 and ProMods that you are using. To genereate a new one for the latest ProMods version go here:

Make sure you only tick the Special Transport box if you have the Special Transport DLC
Do not tick this box if you do not own the Special Transport DLC!

To download a definition file for an older version of ProMods, go to the compatibilty page and download the corresponding definition file for the version you are using:

If you do not own the Special Transport DLC click Download vX Def
If you do own the Special Transport DLC click Download vX Def (ST)
Do not download the (ST) file if you do not own the Special Transport DLC!

C2 - All ProMods files are incompatible, do not have all 6 required map DLC
ProMods Requires all map DLCs except Iberia!
From ProMods 2.45 onwards you need: Going East, Scandinavia, Vive la France, Italia, Beyond the Baltic Sea, Road to the Black Sea
You can use the Map Booster bundle to save money on older map DLCs.
Often during Steam sales older map DLCs can go for up to 75% off. If you are just starting out and have no map DLC yet, it is highly recomended to wait for a sale to buy DLC as you can save a huge amount of money.

If you are unsure which map DLC you are missing, click the "i" button in mod manager:

Any missing DLC will be highlighted in red here:

In this example there is no red text so we have all DLC. Red text means you are missing the following DLC:

• dlc_east: Going East
• dlc_north: Scandinavia
• dlc_fr: Vive la France
• dlc_it: Italia
• dlc_balt: Beyond the Baltic Sea
• dlc_balkan_e: Road to the Black Sea
• dlc_ibe: Iberia (not required for versions 2.55 or less)
• dlc_oversize: Special Transport (not required)*

C3 - All ProMods files are incompatible, have all 6 required map DLC
If you have all 6 map DLC but ProMods is showing incompatible, you have the wrong game version for the version of ProMods you are trying to use. Check the compatibility page to make sure you have the correct version:

To check which version of the game you have, look at the bottom right corner of the main menu:

Here we can see that version 1.40 is being used, checking the compatibilty page tells us which versions of ProMods will run on ETS2 1.40.

Older Versions of ETS2:
If you are using an older version of ProMods not supported by the current ETS2 version (Or are waiting for ProMods to update to a new version), you will need to downgrade your game to the version supported by the ProMods version you are using. To do this right-click on the game on the left side of your Steam library and choose propereties, in the properties window click on the "Betas" tab, then choose "temporary_1_X - 1.X.x for incompatible mods" from the list (Where X is the ETS2 version you need to run your version of ProMods):


Open Betas:
ProMods will never be compatible with open betas, make sure to opt-out of all betas when an open beta is running. To do this right-click on the game on the left side of your Steam library and choose propereties, in the properties window click on the "Betas" tab, then choose "None" from the list:

D1 - 'Freeze' on loading
When loading ProMods or any large map mod for the first time, or whenever the map has changed (Eg: the game has been updated or you have changed which map mods you are using), the game will need to rebuild the navigation cache. This can take up to 30 minutes depending on your hardware. The game will display text to tell you when it is doing this:

When this text is displayed the game has not frozen or got stuck, it is building the navigation cache, be patient - especially if you have an old or slow PC.

D2 - The game is still frozen after half an hour or crashes, using mods other than ProMods
If the game freezes (see D1: 'Freeze' on loading) or crashes on loading while using mods other than ProMods, it is likely due to a mod conflict. Try disabling all other mods and loading the game again. For help finding the exact cause of the issue, see Section F or ask in #general-support on the ProMods Discord.

D3 - Crash on loading, missing ProMods files
If the game freezes (see D1: 'Freeze' on loading) or crashes on loading while using only ProMods, check to see that you have all the following files in C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod\:

(Note that in other ProMods versions sizes may be different from shown)
Ensure they are all activated in mod manager correctly (see D4: Crash on loading, ProMods not activated correctly).

D4 - Crash on loading, ProMods not activated correctly
If the game freezes or crashes on loading having followed D3: Crash on loading, missing ProMods files you should make sure you have activated 7 parts of ProMods correctly (note the order):

If you are missing one or more ProMods files, it is most likely left behind in the folder where you extracted your download and not in C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Euro Truck Simulator 2\mod. If you cannot find it you will need to re-extract your download or redownload the mod (See Section A).

D5 - Crash on loading, ProMods files are corrupted
If the game freezes or crashes on loading having followed D4: Crash on loading, ProMods not activated correctly it is most likely one or more of your .scs files are corrupted. Verify their sizes match:

Note that these sizes are for ProMods 2.57 only, other versions will be different.
If any file does not exactly match the sizes above (excluding promods-def-vX.scs where X is the ProMods version), it is corrupted and you will need to re-extract your download or (if it is still corrupted) redownload the mod (See Section A).

D6 - Crash on loading, game files are corrupted
If the game freezes or crashes on loading having followed D5 - Crash on loading, ProMods files are corrupted it is most likely that your installation of Euro Truck Simulator 2 is corrupted. To solve this, right-click on the game on the left side of your Steam library and choose propereties, in the properties window click on the "Local Files" tab, then click the "Verify integrity of game files..." button:

Steam will now verify the game files and redownload any that are corrupted. Once it has done this, attempt to load the game again.
If you still experience a crash after doing everything in Section D, ask in #promods-support on the ProMods Discord.

E1 - "One or more map DLC dependencies could not be found" message
If you see this message:

You are missing the required DLC!
As always, ProMods Requires all map DLCs except Iberia
