Severe stuttering in ProMods areas

Hi guys,

I have a pretty decent machine:

Intel i7
8gb ram
gt1060 6gb

But whenever I enter an area that has been modded by ProMods my game starts stuttering, it's not just a little bit but so much that I'm braking too late for an exit or toll passage etc.
I only have ProMods 2.27 running, nothing else.

Can you help me out?

Thanks.

Which graphics settings are you using? You can't expect to run ProMods smoothly on the very highest settings with a 1060.

I'm running it at Ultra settings, that's what my Geforce Experience suggests. Which do you suggest?
I tried running it at High (the in-game preset) this still caused problems.

Most important is your scaling - what do you have that at?
Mirror distance also makes a huge difference, try turning that down to medium.

Not sure how much of a factor this could be, but check your RAM usage. With only 8GB it may be filled.

I have put the settings on medium and this seems to work (for now), scaling is still at 200%.
What exactly does scaling do?

Scaling renders the game (minus UI) at that percentage of your game resolution, then downsizes back to that resolution. It's best illustrated with an example: 200% scaling at 1080p means the game is actually rendered in 4k, then downsized back to 1080p. Why bother? I couldn't explain the technical details myself, but it makes the game look better e.g. smoother edges. However as you can imagine it is very taxing - 200% scaling means 4 times as many pixels have to be rendered - so it will have the biggest single impact on game performance.

Ty so much for the explanation.

I have the same PC like you (I7 4770, GTX 1060, 8 Gb RAM) and I use successfully the NVidia inspector https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=244658
read this and you will see that it's much better than the in-game scaling. also in ProMods in particular it's recommended to use less mods, especially less trailer packs and less truck mods (forget about some American trucks that are very demanding). if you lock your GPU at 40 FPS you will also have better results.
in game settings you can keep everything at maximum, except for vegetation and mirrors, these are wasting resources.

what? GTX1060 at 6Gb is one of the best GPU, only 1070 and 1080 are slightly better from the Nvidia family

I disagree also, 8 Gb of RAM is enough, as far as you don't keep in background multiple applications open, ProMods with 200 mods will maximum reach 6.5 Gb of RAM

Yes NVidia inspector is a solution which may help, I have used it in the past (and really ought to be bothered to get it working again)

I never said it wasn't, the problem is with the game engine not being able to handle the level of detail (or the level of detail not being appropriate for the game engine if you want to look at it that way round). I doubt even a 1080ti would be able to hold 60fps at max settings/400% scaling in the most performance heavy areas.

I stand corrected on the RAM then, thank you.

sorry for the misunderstanding but in the way you said it, people could believe that GTX 1060 is not a good enough card to run ProMods...
for Nvidia inspector I use these settings: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php ... 55#p877960 it's nothing complicated :D
