Thank you for the heads up @OKHI233. I haven´t played this map for a long time and I wanted to try something different for a while.

On another level, does anyone knows what happened with Sheibishi? He made quite some good japanese trucks. He shared them on his personal blog, but I saw it no longer exists. Maybe he moved to some different website? I can´t seem to find it.

Sheibishi stopped sharing his mods completely.

Yeah, I realised about that after some research. What a shame, his mods were quite good and inmersive for this map. But I found some other japanese modders who make quite good japanese style mods too, fortunately.

PS: I realised about something "weird" on this map, not sure if a third party mod is messing things, but I really don´t think so .Sunsets are waayyy too late for Japan. On 21:00 for example is still plain daylight. On summer solstice sunsets should be around 19:00. I hope this can be corrected in the future, breaks inmersion a little bit.

Same issues found, the game time for this map is approximately 3 hours ahead of what it should be(i.e. sunrise around 10:00 and sunset around 22:00), not sure whether it is bug or not

Disable the timezone setting in the gameplay options. But yeah, the days are longer ingame than IRL that is probably because of SCS daylight system being chained to Europe. They surely never thought about timezones more east than Russia.

To be honest: I am glad the day is longer. Japan map is tough to play, different speed and time projection, so the nights feel actually incredible long already as they are.
I just wish there would be a resting point in Miyoshi. When you must repair and end up there and being transported over 2 hours, so your time limit is up ... next rest is far far away, RIP.

I also wish there would be more traffic, it feels so empty and lonely yet.

Yes @Omni du 31, we know about that, the thing is that even on 21st of June sunsets are never soo late in Japan. Not to mention sunrises at 10 a.m...it should be around 4.30 a.m by that time of the year.

I found a workaround if you want a little bit more realistic sunrise/sunset cycle with timezones actived (although as already mentioned, it seems the game really doesn´t support timezones other than european ones)

you need to open japan def file and go to def/country/whatever.sii

for example, with Gifu Prefecture this is what we see:

Code: Select all

country_data: country.data.gifu
{
	country_id: 227
	name: "Gifu"
	name_localized: "@@gifu@@"
	country_code: "JPGF"

	pos:(563, 0, 5314)

	fuel_price: 0.969

	lights_mandatory: false
	leftside_traffic: true
	driving_tired_offence: true

	time_zone: 540		# +9 hours in minutes
	time_zone_name: "JST"

	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 20000	# 2-axle vehicle
	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 30000
	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 40000
	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 50000
}
so you change to this:

Code: Select all

country_data: country.data.gifu
{
	country_id: 227
	name: "Gifu"
	name_localized: "@@gifu@@"
	country_code: "JPGF"

	pos:(563, 0, 5314)

	fuel_price: 0.969

	lights_mandatory: false
	leftside_traffic: true
	driving_tired_offence: true

	time_zone: 360		# +9 hours in minutes
	time_zone_name: "JST"

	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 20000	# 2-axle vehicle
	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 30000
	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 40000
	mass_limit_per_axle_count[]: 50000
}
You have to do the same with every Prefecture, at least the ones we have in the map. Not really sure why they included another ones since they are not yet represented in the map.

This will make the sunsets around 19.00 o'clock in the evening, just how it should be IRL. I didn´t test when was the sunrise, but it should be around 7 AM I think. Not realistic for a summer time, but at least better than having the sunrise at 10 AM in the morning. Anyway, you can try and tell me if this worked for you.

This is a great map, and I want to put it in my own map combination.

I deleted some files by feeling.

After an accidental attempt, this map can be loaded successfully in a certain order and appear in the ui map

My changes to the file may have caused some obscure error, I haven't found them yet.

So could someone tell me what is wrong with if doing this? :?:

This map is stand-alone, so it can't be used with other map mods.
