can't play with pro mods 2

Which two files did you miss? I have the same problem. Yesterday I was playing with no problem, and today when I started the game it said that promods are incompatible.

ETS2 has been updated to version 1.40 - ProMods 2.51 is not compatible with 1.40.
You have to switch back to 1.39.

I've just switch Steam to the offline mode and Promods 2.51 are still working - game remained in 1.39 version (I switched off automatic updates on Steam few months ago).

there will be a new version - it's ready when it's ready.

There's a way to get the current version working in 1.40. It's a "hack" but everything loads fine.

You need to open the scs files in 7zip and locate and open manifest.sii with notepad++ or similar. Then change 1.39.x to 1.40.x.
Do this for def and map scs files.

For the other big files, dont open them um 7zip, just open in notepad++, ignore all the random text, search for 1.39 and change it to 1.40.x



Warning: do this at your own risk, just wait for an official patch if you don't want to do this.

to use promods go into the game on steam click manage games its the cog icon look under betas and select 1.39 so promods still works till promods updates their files. 1.40 is not comapatble with promods 2.51 so have to wait til promods does an update to make it compatable.

The game and the mod may load fine, but under ETS2 v1.40, expect crashes to occur when using PM 2.51. The developer team has made numerous changes in the mod for PM 2.52 to adapt it to the new engine of ETS2 v1.40, all of which are missing from PM 2.51.
I strongly recommend everyone to be patient instead of trying this method (testing of the new mod version is already underway). That said, none of us prevents anyone from doing so, but keep in mind that we can only offer support for any bugs and crashes in PM 2.51 that occur only under the supported game version of 1.39...

As cliff60 said above, you can downgrade ETS2 to v1.39 while waiting for the v1.40-compatible version of ProMods.

Of course there is the alternative to all of this. Just have another profile for the vanilla version of the game and play on that until promods updates to 2.52. OK its not gonna be quite as good as with promods but at least you can experience the new updates from SCS straight away.

I have my original profile from when i first started playing the game and then when i discovered promods i started another profile just for promods. No messing around for me, i just switch profiles.

When you force mods to loads this way you will experience very undesirable behaviour.
None of the lighting maps or textures would have been adjusted and you will get very strange lighting behaviour at night time.
