Eastern European country politically

Historically
Lithuania is member of Nato, EU and the Monetary Union (Euro)

Well, I have never heard Lithuania as Western European country because of EU or NATO. EU just expanded to east incorporating post socialist bloc countries, so Eastern Europe politically still remain the same as it was in cold war era. Only the official statements about it are not valid anymore.

It's a choice of the people. Most Estonians consider themselves Western-Nordics. We also have the best and far better economic figures (GDP per capita, average wage etc.) than the rest Eastern Europe, if one was to consider us Eastern.
The Baltics are all a part of NATO, the EU, Eurozone, OECD (Estonia) we are observer states of the Nordic Council and in the NB8.

And, since culturally the Baltics are Western-Nordics or Central European (Estonia and Latvia have always been connected to Sweden-Denmark, Lithuania has been connected to Poland), i think it's safe to say we can be excluded from the term "Eastern Europe".

I personally hate being called Eastern Europe, since of the bad stereotypes assigned to that area.

You're not the only one. I had to be called Eastern-european for whole year when I was in Belgium. Ok, not that much, it was more the ignorance of facts that drove me mad there, but still. we're in the fucking centre, even the geographical centre is in Kremnické hills/vrchy.

I hate that too. But reality is reality, facts are facts. Lithuania economically is just ahead of Bulgaria and Romania (of whole EU). You should be glad that new Estonian government after USSR collapse was western-headed. While our "free" government was all previous communists just changed their party names... Slowly moved forward...
And some of those commies still have their seats and even having high rank.

Actually it's free topic, anything can be discussed here as long as it is not swearing, flame wars or other abuse.
If you don't like politics or something else which is discussed, leave it as it is, let other people discuss what they want. Same topics don't stay forever.
