Hi,

in austria in state styria some districts have been merged (since 2013).
I have checked the def file, and the licence plates are not correct - the new ones are added, but the old ones are still there.

Following changes have to be done:
1.) JU (Judenburg) and KF (Knittelfeld) --> MT (Murtal)
2.) BM (Bruck/Mur) and MZ (Mürzzuschlag) --> BM (Bruck-Mürzzuschlag)
3.) FF (Fürstenfeld) and HB (Hartberg) --> HF (Hartberg-Fürstenfeld)
4.) FB (Feldbach) and RA (Radkersburg) --> SO (Südoststeiermark)

You keep your old licenceplate (for example with FB) until you get a new one - then you get one with SO.
In reality, you see the old licenceplate very very rarley.

Very rarely? Every time i go to Styria, mostly around Judenburg, I notice quite a lot of the old plates, too. I don't think it would make much sense to eliminate them completely just yet. There are still plenty of cars registered before 2013.

Hi,

I live in that area (district SO), and in my feeling I do not see many of the old licenceplates ^^
Is there a possibility to define how often one licenceplate is shown in a area or is this just randomly (so you can say 60 or 70% new licenceplates, and the rest old licenceplates)?

Thanks for reply :)

Best regards,

I think you can. Not sure though, I never fiddled with license plates before.

Hey there,

I intentionally used the plates that existed before 2013 given that so many cars (both stock and from the Jazzycat mod) are older than 2013, and therefore are most likely to be registered before 2013. In terms of the frequency, the only way I know is to have the same license plate code used multiple times. For example:

Code: Select all

def0[]:"AM<offset hshift=6><img src=/material/ui/lp/austria/am.mat color=FFFFFFFF width=16 height=22><offset hshift=2>"
def0[]:"AM<offset hshift=6><img src=/material/ui/lp/austria/am.mat color=FFFFFFFF width=16 height=22><offset hshift=2>"
def0[]:"B<offset hshift=6><img src=/material/ui/lp/austria/b.mat color=FFFFFFFF width=16 height=22><offset hshift=2>"
This example means that there is a 67% chance that the region code will be "AM" and a 33% chance that it will be "B". Of course you can use the license plate codes as many times as you want so that you can have the ideal ratio.

Anyone can fiddle with the license plates since the def file is unlocked. However, local knowledge for license plates is always welcome for me (because most of this information isn't something that I can find from Wikipedia or any other site on the internet), so if anyone else can confirm that older plates don't appear as much I'd be happy to implement this change in a future version. For now you may edit the def files yourself if you don't want to wait for the fixed def files in a future ProMods version. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the license plates, it'll definitely help me develop them. :)
