It's in our plans but not for 2.2 version. It will require Borgarnes area rebuild so it's not that easy.

Drove there just a few weeks ago when I made a trip through Iceland! Defo an improvement, but I don't see the blue big sign which I still don't know the point of?

You can find them not only in Iceland. It's usually used in the mountains in some countries (I've seen some in Italy), to let you know if a mountain pass is open or closed to traffic. If it's closed, you have to take a detour.
I believe it has a similar purpose here.
