Today's set is from Paris to Calais and Lille.

Image

On a trailer interception mission down the ring road.

Image

Nice things to see from this motorway.

Image

Where's my coffee?! Oh look - a truck. It's refuelling with the driver still inside it. How fascinating.

Image

There's that truck I saw earlier. Didn't get very far, did it.

Image

Image

Calais.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Where's Ryan?

Image

Tha's some heavy anti-erosion riprap right there. Welcome to Calais - a meander-free zone.

Image

Alright, time for bed.

Image

Another morning, another cargo. Just a short hop to Lille. Calais was kind of nice.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Lille reached.

Image

Seems a pretty industrial place.

Image

That's it for now...

Cheers

Journey 4 of 5 in North West France - Lille to Paris
Featuring Grimes' Paris addon... : )

Image
Leaving Lille in our "We're Going To Paris" paintjob.

Image
Almost colour-coordinated.

Image
The drama!

Image
En route...

Image
Nooo! Don't put your hand on the glass. You'll just have to go back and wipe it again!

Image
Light industrial outskirts of the capital.

Image
Abbeys a go-go.

Image
Paris!

Image
Our cousin Premium disguised as Pele.

Image
Ere! Your lorry just spilt my pint!

Image
Me: Wow...so glad to be able to drive through the middle of Paris!
Locals: Why they let these stinky HGVs through the centre? I curse thee, o Grimes!

Image

Image
Ketchup tanker looking for someone with a metric tonne of French fries and a Magnum sized Royale with Cheese.

Image
The bells, the bells!

Image
Back to familiar territory... There is definitely something wierd about those reflections on the two blocks there. It's like they are windows into an alternate reality

Image

Image

Image

Enough for today...

Cheers

Fifth set of five from NW France:
From Paris to Reims and Strasbourg

Image

Setting out for Reims...

Image

Now I know why I didn't make many screenshots in Reims - it's full of holes! As soon as you start roaming with the
free camera, tons of gaps in the scenery appear... oh well.

Image

Image

Outside Reims the countryside was super gloomy.

Image

Image

Image

A few remnants of autumn clinging on. Must be because the region is fairly far to the south. Or something.

Image

Image

A very welcome bit of sunshine.

Image

Image

The dust was rising high in a nearby quarry.

Image

Near the end of the trip we had to make a detour south towards Basel instead of heading north for Strasbourg due to a fit of yawning. After a night spent
in a petrol station car park we trekked to the outskirts of Basel before making an illegal turn. Of course, there just had to be a police car on hand...

Image

Strasbourg at last.

Image

Nothing too special, but the sky was blue...

Image

Image

We made the delivery at Carrefour and that was that... the end of France for now.

Cheers

Part 5 of this project sees us back in Germany, this time the North West, with winter knocking on the door. Time: Mid December
This area is notable for its great concentration of cities in a small area, and of course for its autobahns.
As could hopefully be seen from the first installment of 5 posts in this thread, Promods' Autobahn project + seasonal/weather mods from Grimes go a long way to liven up this part of the world.

Today we're travelling from Kiel to Hannover via Hamburg.

Image
Kiel - a bit generic but packed with buildings...

Image

Image

Image
On the way to Hamburg I began to feel that we must be somewhere above the arctic circle, the
sun really wasn't in a hurry to put some distance between itself and the horizon.

Image
ICE near Hamburg.

Image

Image
Industrial outskirts of Hamburg.

Image
The posh city centre. Not driveable, I guess, but nice all the same.

Image
For me the main feature of Hamburg is this awesome bridge, and its surroudings.

Image
No shortage of containers in this part of the world.

Image
What the seagull sees.

Image

Image

Image
Back on the autobahn, with Hamburg just visible behind an embankment.

Image
Strange lighting...

Image
It's all about the autobahns...

Image
A rare country road...

Image
Sundown near Hannover.

Image
Hannover - not quite as spectacular as Hamburg, but charming in its own way.

Image

Image
Nice skyline!

That's it for today... cheers!

Back again with part 2 of NW Germany: Hannover via Kassel and Dortmund to Bonn

Image

Leaving Hannover on a sunny but chilly morning.

Image

Any problems, officer?

Image

Just autobahn driving...

Image

You want ice, you got ice.

Image

Approaching Kassel the countryside gets a little more interesting... hills...

Image

Scary support-less bridges...

Image

...and smaller roads - leading to a nice downhill run to the city.

Image

Kassel itself isn't particularly fascinating. It has not known the sweet caress of ProMods.

Image

Image

Leaving Kassel, there are more nice bits of countryside, especially if you take the side roads by the quarry. : )

Image

Image

Image

Brrrr...getting really cold now, and dark. Time to find a garage and get some kip.

Image

Awoke to a lovely, chilly sunrise...

Image

...which gave way to first rain, then sleet and hail as we reached Dortmund.

Image

Another default city, but decided to sit out the foul weather at this fine establishment after delivering my cargo. Fell asleep under a threadbare blanket to the sounds of freezing rain.

Image

Awoke to find the constant icy rain had turned to snow.

Image

Ice, ice baby.

Image

New cab and load. Those big caterpillar tracks may come in handy if the load ends up pulling the truck in this weather.

Image

Temperatures not that low, though. The roads are remaining clear.

Image

Image

Asphalt spaghetti.

Image

Image

Bonn!

Image

Image

Bonn is an all-ProMods city, and it's a fine place. Going to drive around till I can find a cafe to chill at for a while.

Image

Image

Thats all for now... thanks for taking a look!

Had a bit of a hiatus due to preparations for Christmas... also revamped the first page of this thread to bring it up to the same "standard" as the rest of it.
Anyway, back now, exploring North-west Germany while everyone else is in Italy : D

Image

A nice hamlet by the side of the Rhine, near Bonn.

Image

Eat this, so-called "Blue Danube"... the Rhine has got to be bluer.

Image

Main Street in Bonn.

Image

What a mansion!

Image

Left our load in Bonn and trekked up the hill behind Rolandseck...

Image

...before picking up a new trailer and heading south to Koblenz, another ProMods town.

Image

Pretty nice!

Image

Image

Image

Then we headed back north up the other bank of the Rhine.

Image

Koln.

Image

Part ProMods, part old I guess. One shouldn't inspect certain parts of it too closely.

Image

Heading north again. The towns here are really close together.

Image

Dusseldorf. Another urban scenery area that is feeling its age.

Image

And then through the Ghostfence to the ancient Dwemer city of Duisburgnkthnd.

Image

I don't think I'll stay the night. All those clanking spiders and centurions would keep me awake.

Image

Oberhausen didn't seem much better from the noise perspective. It's one great big construction site.

Image

Image

Now off towards Bremen, past a picturesque village or two down the smallest roads I could find.

Image

Image

Our cargo - an asphalting machine!

Image

Overtaking on the inside is not big, and it's not clever

Image

That's it for this time, one more set in NW Germany to go...

Cheers!!
