Current motherboard / processor:
Asus P8Z68-V/GEN3
Intel i7-2700K 3.5GHz socket 1050
Under consideration:
Asus Maximus VII (not sure which version)
Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150
Any thoughts guys...
I'm trying to get the most out of ETS2, currently getting 50+ fps (country) and 20+ fps (town) using 3 screen setup (eyefinity) 5760 x 1080.
I'm using the in-game 'advanced' slider graphics controller set to HIGH but would like to use ULTRA and increase fps in town.
Also, if I do make the move would anyone wish to make me an offer on my current motherboard and processor?
I'm thinking of CPU upgrade...
i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | R290X 4GB | R7 240 1GB | 16GB RAM | 850 EVO (OS) | 840 EVO (Backup) | NH-D14 2011 | OCZ ZT 750W PSU | NZXT Phantom Case | 3 x IIyama E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | Fanatec GT2 + CSPv1
But in my case CPU is bottleneck and it's holding back my powerful GPU :O Also need a RAM and HDD upgrade But that's gonna cost at least 500 €... uhhh damn you technology too expensive to keep up :SAlmighty wrote:Well an CPU upgrade won't boost the preformance of ETS2, a graphicscard upgrade is more usefull.

Thanks for your reply but this has taken me full circle. In a similar thread that eventually went too far off topic I thought I had established that my 3GB graphics card was more than sufficient for ETS2 (even running 3 screen with eyefinity). The card was over-clocked using AMD Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) but when I restored the card to factory settings, there was no drop in fps. This led someone to suggest that ETS2 was not utilising the stock speed let alone any additional benefit from over-clocking. In conclusion, it was felt that upgrading the card would be a waste of money but a faster CPU would enable me to raise the in-game setting to 'ultra' and attain a higher frame rate. No decision has been made yet so this is still up for discussionAlmighty wrote:Well an CPU upgrade won't boost the preformance of ETS2, a graphicscard upgrade is more usefull.

Sometimes the CPU can be a bottleneck, but I'm having a i7 2600k @3.4 (stock) as CPU and 2 GTX560ti hawk in SLI mode as GPU's. With this setup I get 60FPS outside the villages and ~45 FPS in cities and villages. This is why I recommend a GPU upgrade instead of a CPU upgrade because slicker's CPU is faster then mine.volan123 wrote:But in my case CPU is bottleneck and it's holding back my powerful GPU :O Also need a RAM and HDD upgrade But that's gonna cost at least 500 €... uhhh damn you technology too expensive to keep up :SAlmighty wrote:Well an CPU upgrade won't boost the preformance of ETS2, a graphicscard upgrade is more usefull.

Hi Almighty,
Thanks... I do get your reasoning...
just out of interest:
are you using triple screens?
if so, what is your total screen res?
what in-game graphics settings are you using?

No I have two screens and I play on 1 screen.
if so, what is your total screen res?
1920*1080 for the game itself and Spotify, Skype etc. on the second screen.
what in-game graphics settings are you using?
Using high settings for ProMods and Ultra for the base game.
If you play on multiple screens the ram on your graphic card is important, my card only have 1GB of ram (each, but SLI doesn't double the amount), so it's not very capable to run a 3 screen setup.

You say you are using high settings for ProMods and Ultra for the base game. I am aware of the in-game graphics settings (simple and advanced) but where are the setting specific to ProMods? (are these set in the def file - stage 1 before downloading the rar files)?

It's probably just the quality and size of Promods that make him lower the graphic settings to make the game stable.

Well it's more a problem that my old cards isn't capable anymore to run ETS2 and ProMods on the ultra setting, usually mods requires more from your graphic cards. I can run the game with promods on ultra setting but then I will have around ~40FPS in the countries and ~20FPS in the cities.
The settings I use are not specific for ProMods and the def you generate before downloading the map is just to change the sounds and road colors etc. It hasn't got anything to do with the ingame graphics.
