SCS probably followed the 1:19 scaled map. Which means these curves are there in real life too, but they're radiuses are 19 times as big, which makes much more sense for Autobahns :P

Yup that's correct the curve are done for a specific purpose and as Purno points out the radius is scaled down which distorts the curve as designed

Interesting article of proper road design:

^^ That particular subject (geometric design) has been part of my current study. I know quite a few things about that

The new areas in the ARP have much straighter Autobahns, which are much more relaxing to drive on...

Since when are we a team? I was only providing assistance and feedback, no more, no less. You are jumping to conclusions here...

I'll not give any comment on the rest of the discussion of yesterday. Both parties have been pretty rude and I don't want to light up the fire again.

If something like this happens again, I'll lock the topic for a few days!

Has anyone here ever driven for example the A44 near Kassel in Germany in the real life? You would be surprised, i think, when you come in to that section, where 120 km/h with a better midclass car is allready a life hazard. And even going down about 12%.
That's actually, what i do miss in ETS. All the hills are too flat... And when they are good angle, like on some secondary roads in CZ/SK, than they are way too short. I would like to see that more realistic. So that the truck must work hard to get up, and having glowing brakes, when going down... Even with some emergency brake lanes of sand near the bottom of a hill... :-)

I'm afraid that's a drawback of the scale of the map. If you have all Europe at 1:19 horizontally but 1:1 vertically... Well, every 100 km at 8% you just go up around 400 meters!!! That's when the author's creativity is needed. But yeah, I miss seeing an emergency breaking lane too.

The m1 and m18 intersection is pretty screwed up by SCS, I think that needs rebuilding
