I like the way Amsterdam was uprated to have proper motorway intersections instead of forcing through traffic to slow to 50kph, however I've discovered a flaw.

If one takes the A10 north, initially, the truck speed limit is as expected (80kph at the 100kph sign*)

Code: Select all

 Correct speedlimit ; [12/10/2014 19:45] (sec-0005-0003);-18461.7;22.3958;-11269.1
Image

But immediately after it reverts to 50kph without there being a sign to indicate we should now observe the speedlimit for built up areas.

Code: Select all

 Incorrect speedlimit just beyond. ; [12/10/2014 19:46] (sec-0005-0003);-18460.9;25.5092;-11339
Image

Which if, like me, one doesn't usually run with the Route Advisor on, leads to nice fat speeding ticket at the gantry you can see just up ahead.

Same deal in the other direction, btw, 100kph signed, but 50kph truck speedlimit.

(*): I'm sorry, I screwed up the screenshot. I was looking at the speed sign when I pressed shift+F11, but I must have altered my head's position slightly when pressing the "report" button.

I know what you're saying Jan, I've found lots of such instances, on other maps too. Certain motorway overpass prefabs seem to have a built-in 50kph limit, and you can suddenly go from a 80kph limit to 50kph for a few metres (no 50 signs), then back again to 80kph. I drive at speeds appropriate to the road and/or weather conditions, and have police set to 0, so I don't get fined :D . But watching the limit icon on the RA is quite amazing as you see the number go up and down several times on a short stretch of road, sometimes only by 5kph :? . I guess that since speed signs became 'active' and actually set the limits, their value and placement has become more important.
And I totally agree with you on the Amsterdam motorway sections. It used to be a nightmare :o

And well, i'm from Amsterdam, and in the real life, there is only two different speed limits on the whole Ring of Amsterdam (A10) and that is 80 km/h on Ring West and 100 km/h on the rest of the Ring. No any place, where you have to go 50 km/h. :-D
