I thought Scotland uses the standard UK plates but instead of GB it has it's own initials. http://goo.gl/D4j1D7 and scroll down to S.plykkegaard wrote:1) Yep: http://www.licenseplates.tv/scotland-718.html

Actually, I wouldn't count that as having your own license plate. The system just has region-based coding, and this is not something unique for the UK. In fact, this type of coding is more familiar to me in Germany (1,2 or 3-letter header code), but this is also used in Switzerland (2-letter header code) and was previously used in France (2-digit département-number code at the end, before they went on integrating the region number in small form on the plate).
Just like Wales and counties in the UK, Scotland just got a range. It's not that special...

Well, Wikipedia isn't the only one who states that. If you look in the def file for numberplates, you'll find out that SCS use the same format for the numberplatesplykkegaard wrote:Don't know how exact wiki is

This article is very accurate . In fact, I've memorised most of the regions' plates from this page, having looked at it several times.plykkegaard wrote:Don't know how exact wiki is, but

Don't forget Scotland overspills into T as well. It's very interesting here how two of our countries, Wales and Scotland, have just one letter each, whereas, for example, Oxford(shire) on it's own has one. That's an area with five million against one with 600,000.
