Not meaning to give a plug to other map mods, but have you seen the Romania mod? The standalone one? While they are miles behind anything from you guys, and it's a little limited tying in one country, there are some sections of road that really do look like some of the smaller roads around Ireland/E...

I had the same issue when reaching toll gates in the Going East DLC, turned out to be the free toll part of megamod. Once I disabled that, everything worked.
